Pudina ka Phul (Mentha Spicata)
Part Used: Flower Extract
Effect on Tridosha to Kaphavata shamaka (reduces vitiated Kapha and Vata dosha)
It is used for the treatment of indigestion, pain in joints, diarrhea, cough, dysmenorrhea, and fever.
Phytoconstituents of Mentha piperita:
menthol, menthone, pulegone, menthofuran, 1,8?cineole, menthyl acetate, isomenthone. The leaves contain flavonoid glycosides, eriocitrin, luteolin 7?O?rutinoside, hesperidin, isorhoifolin, diosmin, eriodictyol 7?O?glucoside, and narirutin, besides rosmarinic acid, azulenes, choline, carotenes.
Research evidence on Mentha spicata:
Wound healing activity of topical Mentha piperita and Cymbopogan citratus essential oil on Streptozotocin?induced rats. Diabetic?induced infected wound treatment with topical Mentha piperita ointment and another essential oil in Cymbopogan citratus wound?contraction studies � a circular piece 08 mm� in area; on the 20th day compared with wound?healing study on the wound?contraction studies a circular piece 08 mm� in area on the 18th day � found highly effective in Mentha piperita ointment.

Pudina Tail (Mentha Spicata)

Effect on Tridosha to Kaphavata shamaka (reduces vitiated Kapha and Vata dosha)
Pudina oil, which is obtained after processing from the plant, is used with hot water to treat indigestion and relieve colic pain.
The dried Peppermint leaves were found in the Pyramids of Egypt and even the ancient Romans used to cultivate Peppermint in their gardens.
It is used in the treatment of digestive disorders, indigestion, dyspepsia, vomiting, gastritis, and abdominal pain.
Research evidence on Mentha Spicata Oil:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of topical Mentha piperita and Cymbopogan citratus oil on wound healing. Diabetic?induced infected wound treatment with topical Mentha piperita ointment and another essential oil in Cymbopogan citratus wound?contraction studies � a circular piece 08 mm� in area on the 20th day compared with wound?healing study on the wound?contraction studies a circular piece 08 mm� in area on the 18th day � found highly effective in Mentha piperita ointment.
Karpur (Cinnamomum camphora, Exd. Pdr.)
Effect on Tridosha to Balances Kapha and Pitta Dosha.
It reduces fat and cholesterol levels.
Being coolant, it balances Kapha Dosha.
It is known as Karpura in Hindi.
Mukhashoshahara (relieves mouth dryness), Mukha vairasyahara (relieves bad breath problem), Kanta Doshahara (clears throat & relieves toothache), Medhya (improves intelligence), Vishadoshaghanam (anti?toxic), Chakshushyam (improves vision, good for eyes, useful in eye disorders), Madakaraka (over?dosage may cause intoxication).
Inhalation of its vapours helps in relieving chest congestion due to excessive sputum. It is also used in treatment of cough.

Gaultheria Tail (Gaultheria fragrantissima)
Part Used: Leaf Oil
Effect on Tridosha to Balances Kapha and Pitta Dosha
It cleanses the urinary bladder, acts as an aphrodisiac, and is useful in eye disorders.
It is known as wintergreen oil in English, and Gandhupura in Hindi.
Swadvi (mouth freshener), ruchikara (appetiser), deepana (digestive), and grahi (absorbent), being hridayottejaka, in hriddaurbalya (cardiac stimulant), vrushya (aphrodisiac).
Root or the leaf juice should be given in mootrakrichchhra or pooyameha being mootrala.
Phytoconstituents in Gaultheria fragrantissima:
Leaves contain hyperoside (quercetin?3?galactoside), ursolic acid, betasitosterol, and essential oil (known as Gandhapura taila in Hindi) approximately 98% to 99.5% methyl salicylate. This oil is aromatic, stimulant, antiseptic, and pain?relieving.
Neelgiri Tail (Eucalyptus globulus)

Effect on Tridosha: Kapha?Pitta hara (reduces vitiated Kapha and Pitta dosha)
Eucalyptus oil is used for the treatment of nasal congestion, arthritis pain relief, etc.
Neelgiri is known as Tasmanian blue?gum eucalyptus in English.
Durgandhaharnam (relieves bad smell), sarvarujapaham (relieves all kinds of pain), Jantu (worm infestation), Jeerna Kasa (cough, cold), Pratishyaya (running nose, coryza), Shwasa (asthma and chronic respiratory disorders), Agnimandya (low digestion strength), Bastiroga (urinary tract disorders), Karnashoola (earache).
Research evidence on Eucalyptus globulus:
Essential oil of the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus has antimicrobial activity against gram?negative bacteria (E. coli) as well as gram?positive bacteria (S. aureus). The encouraging results indicate the essential oil of E. globulus leaves might be exploited as a natural antibiotic for the treatment of several infectious diseases.

Ajwain Satva (Trachyspermum ammi)

Effect on Tridosha to Kaphavatahara i.e. balances Kapha and Vata, increases Pitta.
It is used extensively in digestive diseases, and has antispasmodic, antitussive, broncho?dilatory, and diuretic activities.
It is known as carom seeds in English.
