Description

How Chyawanprash was invented.

In Ayurveda, Jams have been made as carriers of various herbs to be delivered to the body, known as anupans. Ashwini Kumars twin brothers (the royal physicians to the Gods during the Vedic era), decided to prepare “Prash” meaning a specially prepared superfood for the elderly sage, Rishi Chyawan, to rejuvenate his vitality and strength and make him look younger. They decided to use Amla as the bed of Jam which would assimilate 50 other herbs to become a polyherbal preparation, which would be nutritious and reviatlizing for all age groups and genders. This resulted in the invention of Chyawanprash. The brothers cleverly used Amla as the carrier, because the abundance of Vitamin C in Amla (contains 30 times more Vitamin C than oranges) ensured strengthening and augmentation of your immunity & metabolism, while preventing viral and bacterial infections, including cough and cold. It also aided in digestion.

Primary Health Benefits of Age Ayurveda Chyawanprash

Supports overall Immunity and prevents early aging: Rasayana is a branch in Ayurveda which focuses on prolonging life by slowing aging and preventing diseases. Of all the formulations in Ayurveda, Chyawanprash indisputably stands out as the most potent offering. Its high Vitamin C content aids in the production of haemoglobin and white blood cells. We recommend this be taken around the year as it defends the body from viral, bacterial and fungal attacks, which are no more a mere seasonal phenomenon but a year around requirement. Amla being rich in anti-oxidants, helps fight free radicals that are responsible for early ageing. It is said that chyawanprash prevents wrinkles on the face and delays greying of hair.

An Ayurvedic prespective: In order to understand that it is important to understand what is “Ojas”. Ojas is formed from the body’s seven tissues, namely blood, muscle, plasma, fat, bone, marrow and reproductive tissues. It is located principaly in the heart and is responsible for higher states of consciousness like love, joy, purity of thought, positive feelings, intelligence, creativity, longevity, memory, enhanced immunity. It is said that when the inner consciousness of a person awakes his Ojas will increase on its own. Chyawanprash builds Ojas as it is Tridosh nashak, which implies, it balances Vata, Pitta and Kapha and rejuvenates all the tissues of the body.

Eliminates Toxins: Amla helps in the elimination of toxins from the body, by increasing hemoglobin level which increases red-blood cell count. This helps in eliminating toxins, which Ayurveda identifies as ‘Ama’. Amais a sticky harmful substance that needs to be cleansed from the body, because it blocks the flow of energy and nourishment throughout the system. In Fact Ayurveda considers this accumulation of toxins the underlying cause of most diseases.
